Homemade Vanilla Coconut Sugar Scrub

Besides the fact that I am trying to avoid toxins that are prevalent in store bought skin care products, I also needed to make some body care products for the holidays as gifts!  I’m thinking that I will put this sugar scrub in half-pint mason jars and wrap with a pretty ribbon to go in my Christmas baskets this year.  The females on my gift list will love this one . . . and it smells heavenly!

Ingredients

1 c sucanat (brown sugar is fine too, use up all that pre-real food stuff for the outside of your body!)

1/2 c raw coconut oil, liquid form

1 vanilla bean

2 – 3 Tablespoons raw honey (start with 2 and add another if too dry)

Make sure your coconut oil is melted in the liquid form.  Slice open the vanilla bean and scrape out the seeds inside the bean.  Mix the vanilla seeds into the cooled coconut oil.  Add the sucanat/brown sugar to the coconut oil along with the honey.  Mix well.  Place in a glass mason jar and cover. This can be stored in the shower area.  It does not need to be refrigerated.
