For those of you local to Washington County, MD or the Central – Southwestern Area of PA the Gettysburg/Chambersburg Area WAPF is holding its annual gathering on October 6 (see bottom of post for more details). This year they asked my farmer Edwin Shank of The Family Cow in Chambersburg, PA to speak along with a few other local farmers all who will be bringing some farm goodies to sell (like some delicious raw milk for starters). Maureen Diaz is the chapter leader for this group and she will also be sharing a presentation on immunity. Here’s a copy of the email announcement that was sent out by Edwin with all the juicy details:
The Idiot’s Guide to Gut Health
Hi Everybody,
Just a quick note from Your Family Farmer,
You’ve heard of Dr. Weston A. Price, one of the most prominent health researchers of the 20th century? If you’re really sharp, maybe you even read his extraordinary masterpiece Nutrition and Physical Degeneration which has become the cornerstone of the Weston A. Price Foundation nutritional group. So, you are off to a good start, but here is your invitation to learn even more to benefit your family’s health and nutrition.
The local chapter of WAPF, the most ardent supporter of raw milk and other unprocessed real foods in America, is holding their Annual Fall WAPF gathering for Adams/Franklin/Cumberland County PA area on Saturday, October 6th. (Everyone is invited even if you are not from this area.)
Maureen Diaz, who is the WAPF chapter leader for this area is organizing the event and will be speaking on “The Idiot’s Guide to a Healthy Gut.” She has asked yours truly to share a presentation that I call, “It’s the Immunity, Stupid!” Several of us local PA raw milk farmers will be there with raw milk, eggs, cheese, kefir, homemade bread, grains, granola, yogurt, kombucha and other WAPF types of real foods from our farms to sell.
So please come. Meet and freely visit at length with your farmer and his family, learn some important nutritional facts from the local chapter leaders, enjoy a real-foods potluck lunch provided and shared by all in attendance and buy your weekly real foods, all in one trip.
Hope to see you there,
Your family farmer ~ Edwin Shank

Errr… you’re a customer of Your Family Cow also? Cause this means we’re neighbors! I’m just outside of Carlisle.
Yep, we would be neighbors.
You’ are about an hour north of me on the other side of Chambersburg. I am in Hagerstown, MD.
Been to Hagerstown many times – most often the Pilot, as I used to be a truck driver.
I freaking LOVE the foods from Your Family Cow. Just got their creamed honey last week for the first time and it’s MUCH nicer than the stuff I got at the farmer’s market (though that was good too).
The FC food is pretty awesome. I buy most of my stuff there now that they are 100% soy free. I always get their regular raw honey. But I might have to try the creamed honey per your recommendation.
Not only do they have great food but they are such nice people. Everyone is always so friendly when I’m there. It’s like we’re part of the family.
