So I was about to blend up some chocolate avocado pudding this morning when I had this bright idea… pudding pops! Pudding pops make me think of Bill Cosby, how bout you? Remember those commercials? Give the kid a jell-o pudding pop!
Okay, so back to my bright idea… why not pour the pudding into my trusty freeze pop molds and make my own pudding pops? Genius… brilliant… I know. That’s why I get paid the big bucks (oh wait… scratch that… I totally don’t… we pay to blog… I know… it doesn’t seem right). Anyway, back to pudding pops.
When you make the pudding, try to refrain from eating a bunch of spoonfuls (all in the name of quality control ofcourse)… so that you can actually make the pops. It’s going to be difficult… cuz the pudding is delicious. I managed to find some self control and I had enough pudding to make 7 freeze pops.
Ummm, yes… I ate several spoonfuls… because, to be honest, I don’t really care about frozen pudding. I made these for you… and possibly my kids.
By the way, if you want to just make pudding instead of pudding pops, just decrease the coconut milk to 3/4 cup. And feel free to eat as many spoonfuls as your heart desires! You should probably make it when you’re alone… you may not want to share.
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe avocados
- 3/4 – 1 cup coconut milk (adjust to desired consistency)
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
- pinch of salt
Throw everything into the blender and process until smooth. Eat as is or freeze in molds to make pudding pops.
Oh, and give these honeydew freeze pops a whirl sometime too.

chocolate avocado pudding is my favorite treat! It is such a creative idea to make pudding pops with it! I have never tried a “pudding pop.” I can’t have chocolate right now, but I am trying this recipe as soon as I am able to eat chocolate!
Leslie, they sound delicious without the cocoa; I was even thinking about throwing some banana in the mix as I love the consistency of my banana, avocado smoothies. They’re just like pudding.
Ya know what Tiffany? Sometimes I sweeten the pudding with banana instead of maple syrup. I will have to try the combo without the chocolate… I dunno though, I’m a pretty big chocolate fan! Or maybe you can try it and report back!
Have you tried any other sweeteners? What about honey or stevia? Just wondering.
Hi Gina,
I haven’t tried honey or stevia (simply because I prefer maple syrup), but I am sure that either of those will work!
Does this need to be frozen or can it be eaten as is?
You can definitely eat it as just pudding… it’s delicious and so quick! You will probably need to cut back on the coconut milk a bit, though, so that it will be thicker.
Ah! I made this over the weekend and it was divine. But I came back here today to write down the recipe so I won’t forget and it is gone!!! May I please have the recipe again???
Hey Caryn,
Sorry about that… we’re having some problems with our site’s recipe plug in… and it is SO frustrating! Here ya go:
*2 ripe avocados
*3/4 – 1 cup coconut milk (adjust to desired consistency)
*2 tsp vanilla
*1/2 cup cocoa powder
*1/2 cup maple syrup
Throw everything into the blender and process until smooth. Eat as is or freeze in molds to make pudding pops.
Thanks so much Leslie! I’m making a batch for a dinner with friends and their kiddos tomorrow night. Hoping to sneak the amazing health factor past the kids.
My husband calls this the best chocolate pudding he’s ever had in his life by the way. Thanks!
